Turning the Page to a Bright New Year
This year has been one heck of a year.
2024 brought its fair share of challenges. We’ve seen our neighbors and loved ones feeling the strain of rising costs—whether it’s the price of groceries, gas, or just trying to make ends meet. Families have faced uncertainty, and cultural tensions have made conversations at dinner tables more difficult than ever. This whole year has felt as though we were walking a tightrope between chaos and clarity. But through it all, I saw a spark of hope, and I think a lot of people felt it too. With Donald Trump's remarkable return to the Oval Office and sweeping Republican victories, it became clear that people are ready to stand up for the values that matter most—faith, family, and freedom.
So, driving through neighborhoods this December, I noticed a sort of quiet rebellion—a striking rejection of the post-modern ideologies and the divisive narratives that have pressed on us, with a bold return to embracing traditional values. Homes adorned with lights, windows glowing with wreaths, and yards filled with nativity scenes and other symbols of faith and family—all on a scale I haven’t seen in many years. It was as if people were choosing to reject the emptiness of what they had been told to accept and instead reclaim the grounding and meaning found in our timeless tradition.
It reminded me of what I wrote last year, reflecting on a childhood where Christmas lights weren’t just decorations—they were threads that tied generations together, carrying the wisdom and successes of the past into the present. Though last year I reflected on the fading of that spirit, this year I’ve seen a resurgence. The glow of these lights feels brighter, warmer, as if the American spirit is rekindling itself.
Some would say you must let the old die to create something new, but sometimes the old gives us the foundation to build something new. So let the lights on our homes do more than celebrate the season. Let them shine in quiet defiance of those who would see tradition fade. Let us reject the narratives that tried to dim our spirit and embrace the bold hope of 2025.
So from everyone at Sullivan's Legacy, Merry Christmas, and may 2025 inspire us to uphold the values that make America truly great.
