A Message from Kathy Rappaport

I hope this finds you in good health and high spirits. It is my privilege to serve as your Town Supervisor, and I am excited to share some of the accomplishments and initiatives that my administration has been tirelessly working on over the past year. Our commitment to the growth and well-being of Fallsburg remains steadfast, and I am proud of the progress we have made.

Body Cameras for the Fallsburg Police: We take the safety of our residents and the professionalism of our police force seriously. Our administration has successfully implemented body cameras for our police officers to enhance transparency and accountability. This technology not only protects our officers but also builds trust within the community.

Dry Fire Hydrant installation: We have taken significant steps to bolster fire safety and support its dedicated volunteer firefighters by the installation of ten new fire hydrants each year throughout the town. The town is also looking into the installation of dry fire hydrants. Dry fire hydrants, unlike traditional hydrants, do not rely on a connected water supply but instead draw water from nearby sources such as ponds, lakes, or reservoirs. This innovative approach allows for greater flexibility in hydrant placement, significantly expanding the town's firefighting capabilities.

FREE E-Waste Collection Program in Fallsburg: We created a free e-waste program in Fallsburg. Our town was the only large town in the area that does not have a way for residents to get rid of their e-waste. We brought this free service to Fallsburg. If we want to keep Fallsburg clean, we need to give people access!

Infrastructure Improvements: One of the cornerstones of our administration has been investing in our town's infrastructure. We've completed crucial road repairs, upgraded water and sewage systems, and enhanced our public spaces to create a safer and more pleasant environment for all residents.

Loch Sheldrake economic development: The centerpiece of this visionary initiative is the construction of a sprawling 150,000 square foot event area, designed to attract a wide array of activities and gatherings. This state-of-the-art air dome will serve as a magnet for tourism, cultural events, and corporate functions, further positioning Fallsburg as a premier destination. This comprehensive plan includes the expansion of the current business district in the area and embodies our commitment to fostering growth, attracting investments, while improving the quality of life for our residents. By leveraging bonds and state resources, we can make these ambitious projects a reality, unlocking tremendous potential for our town and its surrounding areas.

Monthly Pop-Up Food Pantry: In these challenging times, providing support to those in need is paramount. Our monthly pop-up food pantry has been a lifeline for many families, offering essential supplies and support to those facing hardship. We will continue to expand this program and explore new ways to assist our neighbors in need.

New Recreation Area: This October was the grand opening of its newest public park, Dogpatch Park, located at the corner of Dogpatch Road and Old Country Road in South Fallsburg. This exciting addition to our community has been made possible through the generous support of local organizations and individuals, transforming a vacant space into a vibrant recreational haven.

Winning Over $100,000 in Grants: Securing grants has been a priority for us, and I'm pleased to announce that our efforts have been fruitful. We have secured over $100,000 in grants that will be used to fund various community projects, from parks and recreation facilities to social services that directly benefit our residents.

Youth Commission: Investing in our youth is an investment in the future of Fallsburg. Our Youth Commission has been diligently working to provide opportunities for our young residents, from educational programs to recreational activities. We are dedicated to ensuring that our youth have every chance to succeed and thrive in our community.

While these accomplishments are noteworthy, they are just the beginning of what we can achieve together. Fallsburg's strength lies in its community spirit, and I am confident that by working together, we can make our town an even better place to live, work, and raise our families. I encourage you to stay engaged with your local government, attend town meetings, and share your ideas and concerns.

Thank you for your continued support,

Katherine Rappaport,

Town of Fallsburg Supervisor
